Live Art Society facilitates an Open Call for November 2021.
We are looking for performances, topics, practices, processes and suggestions that artist(s) consider inspiring and important right now. Applications in any form, medium or technique are welcome. Suggestions can be anything from a workshop-period researching an artwork, a demo, a sketch of an artwork from idea to execution or a rehearsal-period. Applications from all fields of art are welcome, but suggestions are expected to include some kind of performative / live art aspect. Both individual artists and artist collectives are encouraged to apply. We encourage applications from makers in different stages of their career.
The residency is a working space-residency. We offer the selected artist(s) a free-of-charge working space in Esitystaiteen keskus ESKUS in Suvilahti, Helsinki (studio 4, 60m2). The space is equipped with a basic sound system. The residency includes an easy-going artist talk organized by Live Art Society before the working period and an informal sharing (demonstration/ open rehearsal/ discussion/ lecture/ other) at the end of the residency period.
The duration of the residency is two or four weeks (Mon-Sun) between 1-28.11.2021. The space is booked for the residency on the weekdays 08.00-17.30, and on the weekends 8-22. Please let us know in your application whether you would rather work during the weekdays or weekend. We will select 1-4 artists/suggestions for the residency.You can apply by filling out the FORM and sending your attachments to residenssi.esitys@gmail.com, topic AUTUMN RESIDENCY/”project name” latest by Friday 26th of March (26.03.2021).
We kindly ask you to include the following information in your application:
*A short description of your project + aims for the project (max one A4)
*A short reflection / thoughts about how the project could work as part of Live Art Society’s / Eskus’s community. What kind of reciprocity or interaction does it facilitate, what does it offer to whom and what kind of needs or wishes you have for the working period?
*Please make it clear in your application how this residency would be necessary for your project or idea.

You are welcome to apply for the residency even though you are not a member of Live Art Society. Chosen artist(s) are required to join the Live Art Society before receiving access to the residency place. Each year, the board of the Live Art Society chooses a team of board members that are responsible for organizing the Open Call for the Autumn residency. This year the team consists of board members Wilhelmina Ojanen, Jon Irigoyen and Live Art Society member Kardo Shiwan. The team will go through the applications and make a suggestion to the rest of the board members. The board makes the final decision together with the team. The applicants will be informed about the selections at the end of April 2021.The applications will be considered by the following criteria: connection and commitment to the Live Art Society, clarity of the working plan, need for residency space, and diversity of artists and working groups.

Esitystaiteen Seura avoin haku: SYYSRESIDENSSI 2021
Esitystaiteen seura järjestää avoimen haun syysresidenssiin marraskuulle 2021.
Etsimme esityksiä, aiheita, praktiikoita, prosesseja ja ehdotuksia, jotka tekijä(t) itse tuntee juuri nyt inspiroiviksi ja ajankohtaisiksi. Muoto ja tekniikka on vapaa, ehdotus voi olla mitä tahansa teoksen työpajajaksosta installaatioluonnokseen ja harjoitemaastosta esityksen tekemiseen. Hakijoiden taiteenalaa ei ole rajattu, mutta ehdotusten odotetaan sisältävän jonkin performatiivisen / esityksellisen / esitystaiteellisen aspektin. Kannustamme sekä työryhmiä että yksittäisiä taiteilijoita hakemaan. Kannustamme hakemuksia myös taiteellisen uran eri vaiheissa olevilta hakijoilta.
Residenssi on tilaresidenssi. Tarjoamme valituille taiteilijoille ilmaisen työskentelytilan (Esitystaiteen keskukselta Suvilahdesta Helsingistä (Eskus), sali 4, koko 60m2), joka on varustettu perusäänentoistolla. Hakija voi olla yksittäinen tekijä tai ryhmä. Residenssiin kuuluu Esitystaiteen seuran organisoima rento artist talk -tapahtuma (esim. projektin lähtökohtien avaaminen muille residenssitaiteilijoille) ennen residenssijakson alkua sekä vapaamuotoinen avaus (demo/avoimet harjoitukset/keskustelu/opintopiiri/muu) jakson lopussa.
Residenssiaika on kaksi tai neljä viikkoa (ma-su) välillä 1-28.11.2021. Tila on varattu residenssille arkisin klo 08.00-17.30, ja viikonloppuisin 8-22. Kerrothan hakemuksessasi haluaisitko mieluummin työskennellä arkisin tai viikonloppuna. Residenssiin valitaan 1-4 ryhmää/ehdotusta. Residenssiä haetaan täyttämällä LOMAKE sekä lähettämällä liitteet osoitteeseen residenssi.esitys@gmail.com otsikolla SYYSRESIDENSSI/ ”projektin nimi” viimeistään perjantaina 26.maaliskuuta. (26.03.2021).
Pyydämme liittämään hakemukseen seuraavat asiat:
*Teoksen/projektin kuvaus + projektin tavoitteet (max 1 A4)
*Lyhyt reflektio/ajatuksia siitä, miten projekti toimii osana Esitystaiteen seuran / Eskuksen yhteisöä. Millaista vastavuoroisuutta se ehdottaa, mitä se antaa, millaisia toiveita työskentelyyn sisältyy?
*Kerro meille miksi sinulle olisi tärkeää saada residenssi juuri tälle projektille tai idealle.

Voit hakea residenssiä, vaikka et olisi Esitystaiteen seuran jäsen. Valitulta taiteilijalta/taiteilijoilta edellytetään jäseneksi liittymistä ennen residenssipaikan vastaanottoa. Hakemukset käy läpi Esitystaiteen seuran hallituksesta valittu syysresidenssityöryhmä, jossa on tänä vuonna Wilhelmina Ojanen, Jon Irigoyen ja Esitystaiteen Seuran jäsen Kardo Shiwan. He tekevät ehdotuksen residenssivalinnoista muille hallituksen jäsenille, jotka tekevät lopullisen valinnan yhteistyössä syysresidenssityöryhmän kanssa. Ilmoitamme valinnoista kaikille hakijoille viimeistään huhtikuun lopussa.
Hakemuksista valitaan residenssiin seuraavin perustein: yhteys ja sitoutuminen Esitystaiteen Seuran toimintaan, työsuunnitelman selkeys, residenssitilan tarve sekä taiteilijoiden ja työryhmien monimuotoisuus.
